Clarinet: Jill Hermansader

Jill's musical studies began at the age of 10, studying both flute and clarinet under the tutelage of Sam Correnti. At the age of 13 she began studies on electric guitar with Marty Bonk, which she continued for several years. She was a member of the award-winning Reading High School Marching Band in the late 1970s, under the direction of Hiram Hoch, playing clarinet. Jill also played flute and clarinet in the 1979 RHS production of "Anything Goes."
After high school, Jill added piccolo and tenor sax (and a few others) to her musical repertoire.
In 1992, the Reading High School Alumni Marching Band was formed. Through the years, Jill has played flute, piccolo, clarinet and tenor sax with the Alumni Band. Although the group no longer actively performs, they still appear annually at the Reading Holiday Parade each November where Jill plays clarinet with the Band.
Jill previously played clarinet, flute and piccolo with the Wyomissing Band.
In 2004, Jill began studying cello with Kathleen Embriani. Those studies continue today.
For the past 12 years Jill has been a member of the Reading Philharmonic Orchestra. She has played clarinet, flute, piccolo and tenor sax. She is currently the principal cellist with the orchestra and also serves as secretary on the orchestra’s Board of Directors.
Although not quite old enough, Jill has played cello with the Berks Encore Orchestra, most recently performing with them in May of 2009. Jill played cello in the pit orchestra for the 2009 Holy Name High School production of "The King and I," and will be subbing on cello with the Reading Pops Orchestra this July.
When not practicing or performing music, Jill is a Certified Pension Consultant with Markley Actuarial Services in downtown Lancaster.
